On 7 January, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) 

issued a notice from the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information 

Technology (MIIT) on the pilot work of 10Gb optical network. The notice points out 

that 10Gb optical network is the next generation of optical network upgrade 

evolution direction, is an important part of the new information infrastructure. 

In order to implement the CPC Central Committee, the State Council decision-making 

and deployment, and orderly promote China's 10Gb optical network pilot applications, 

promote the network to ultra-high speed, high capacity, intelligent upgrade and 

evolution, help promote the new type of industrialisation, the organisation of 10Gb 

optical network pilot work.

The goal of the pilot work is to carry out the pilot of 10 Gigabit optical network by 

the end of 2025 in cities and regions with conditions and foundations, focusing on 

key scenarios such as small communities, factories and parks.
