According to the latest report from Vietnam's Radio Frequency Management Authority, the country's three major telecom
operators - Viettel, VNPT and MobiFone - have deployed about 11,000 5G base stations across the country. The Vietnam
News Agency (VNA) cited the report as saying that these base stations currently cover about 26% of the population,
equivalent to 7.7% of the existing 4G base stations. The Radio Frequency Management Authority is affiliated with Vietnam's
Ministry of Science and Technology.
The report pointed out that the three operators are accelerating infrastructure construction and actively developing users,
committed to providing 5G services on a large scale across the country. Among them, Viettel took the lead in launching
commercial 5G services in October last year and currently has 6 million 5G users, and plans to increase this number to 10
million by the end of the year. The operator plans to add 20,000 5G base stations this year, which is expected to increase
the existing data transmission speed by more than 2.5 times, and is also developing a wider 5G application ecosystem,
especially enterprise-level (B2B) solutions.
Rival VNPT has developed more than 3 million active 5G users through its mobile service subsidiary VinaPhone.
The operator is working with international companies such as Nokia, Ericsson and M1 to explore new opportunities in
areas such as data transmission, AI platforms, network APIs and vertical service integration.
MobiFone announced that its 5G active users exceeded 2.5 million and plans to add another 10,000 base stations.
The company focuses on expanding its 5G network in major cities and provincial centers, aiming to achieve 5G coverage
in 100% of administrative regions across the country.
